Does anybody know of a software tool/ macro that can verify/check large amounts of numbers between a ST and a TT, e.g. annual reports etc? I work with Studio 2011 which does this, but seems to miss out occasionally.

Word-Excel workaround Apr 24, 2013

1. Prepare a two-column export of the segmented translation: source on the left and target on the right. (This can be done easily even from the tmx export of the relevant part of your TM.)
2. Put the two-column table into Word, and delete everything but the numbers. For example, highlight every number and also the decimal and thousand separators (if applicable). For example, if a thousand separator comma and a decimal point are used, start with the combinations ^#.^# and ^#.^# and then add

Then delete everything that is not highlighted, using Word's find and replace functions.
3. If the decimal and thousand separators between the two languages are different, (e.g., SL uses decimal point and thousand separator comma, while the target uses deciomal comma and space for thousand separator), make the necessary modifications so that the two columns use the same.
4. Copy the two columns into Excel, and use the "IDENTICAL" function to find the differences.

Best,
Attila

Additional precaution Apr 24, 2013

As an additional precaution, should you be unable to use automatic means of reproduction or comparison of such numbers, double-checking any numbers copied is something a client's personnel can do even without knowing the language (much less proofreaders). I'd try to reach an agreement expecting them to do so.
