Check out this link: https://flylib.com/books/en/3.171.1.84/2/ for a matrix printer which is not mentioned in the context above. Since I don't know what type of printer (laser, injet, matrix, etc) this is, I have decided to replaced the word "ROD" for "BASE" in my answer. I hope this helps you.
