Muriel Vasconcellos Dec 11, 2007:
Thanks, Matt. I suppose "treatment" is OK, though it sounds a bit translation-y. In another type of text one might say "this way of handling,"

... thanks for taking the time to think about this!

CONTEXT v.
Muriel Vasconcellos Dec 7, 2007:
What does "tratamento" refer to? I'm not sure that "treatment" is the best translation - it would depend on the preceding context.

That's how I always translate it.

My suggestions:

This treatment(?) consists of/involves repairing the ungrammatical sounds according to the language's phonology; if possible, reconfiguring the loan as CVC based on the word's tonic syllable; fitting the adapted word into the prosodic structure of Dâw

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks a lot for clarifying this... I'm sticking with treatment in the end - it may not sound perfect, but the meaning is totally clear I think... Thanks!"
