Portuguese term

REGRAS DO BACARÁ PONTO E BANCA/MACAU

Portuguese to English Other Games / Video Games / Gaming / Casino Game/Betting legislation
I need to clarify the correct terms for the type of game in reference. There are some discrepancies online and since it is related to the legislation it is a must to have the correct terminology. Further reference for the type of game:

Com a habilitação e para execução desta disposição, estabelecem-se, com o presente regulamento, as regras
base de execução e prática do jogo de bacará ponto e banca/bacará ponto e banca Macau previsto na
subalínea i) da alínea c) do n.º 1 daquele mesmo artigo 5.º, na categoria de jogos de fortuna ou azar.

Thank you advance and regards

Shirley

Discussion

The project is not an official source, it is a more reference document for a specific company. It deals with several types of games/legislation. As usual, any regulation either in portuguese or spanish etc is not a state of art job, seems more a draft job than anything else.

I agree partially with Nick, but still think that is dangerous to assume anything here for the reasons already stated by Shirley. I would suggest to communicate with your client, specially if it's a law firm or a lawyer as they may have valuable information. If the client reply saying that the terms refer to the same game, you could then do as Nick suggested, if not, more research would be needed.

"House Rules" I can only assume from the "/" that there may be slight differences in "Macau" Baccarat, so in order to maintain the differentiation (if any) I would be inclined to follow my advice and use similar artifice, thus following the original as closely as possible. Another device may be to use simply "&" Macau Baccarat (Punto Banco). What is certain is that there is no "&" between Punto (e) Banco in the translated text.

Não estou certo Shirley, estou apenas relatando o que consegui em minha pesquisa.

O Nick respondeu como se fosse uma coisa só também... vamos esperar outros colaborarem.

Bom serviço!

"Punto banco" More than 91% of Macau’s casino income for the first three quarters of 2014 came from the simple, fast-paced card game, according to the local gaming bureau. Macau gamblers typically play a variation called punto banco, or North American baccarat, in which players compete to get cards that add up to nine points. The game is purely luck—no strategy is involved—which appeals to superstitious gamblers who believe that winning should be a matter of chance, not skill.
Nick Taylor Jul 2, 2015:
macau punto banco The punto banco style, favored in Macau, involves no skill; the result is determined as soon as the cards are dealt.
Nick Taylor Jul 2, 2015:
Punto banco

The overwhelming majority of casino baccarat games in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland, and Macau are "Punto banco" baccarat and they may be seen labelled simply as "Baccarat". In Punto banco, the casino banks the game at all times, and commits to playing out both hands according to fixed drawing rules, known as the "tableau" (French: "board"), in contrast to more historic baccarat games where each hand is associated with an individual who makes drawing choices. Player ("Punto") and Banker ("banco") are simply designations for the two hands dealt out in each coup, two outcomes which the bettor can back; Player has no particular association with the gambler, nor Banker with the house

Fabio, a resposta de Nick entao é válida? Como trata-se de normas tenho que usar a terminologia correta. Tem muitas interpretacoes diferentes.
Fabio M. Caldas Jul 2, 2015:
@Shirley I believe that your doubt resides in the fact that the original text refers to this game as three different games, is that right?

"...jogo de **bacará ponto** e **banca/bacará ponto** e **banca Macau**..."

But from my research it seems to be just name variations of the same game.

Rules of Baccarat, "Ponto E Banca/Macau

The thing is that the game is internationally called Baccarat, but in Spanish and Portuguese it's called Punto Y Banca or Ponto E Banca.
