Portuguese term

Cargas na parede celular

Portuguese to English Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-) Characteristics of Lithothamnium
'Cargas na parede celular = Nutrientes adsorvidos = fácil liberação.'

Two things:
1 - The original is in Brazilian

2 - This relates to algae

I'm not sure whether 'Cargas' could be 'Loads' in here. It doesn't seem to make much sense to me, but maybe I'm wrong...

Any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Charges in cell wall

I found the reference you needed,
in sobiologia.com.br they explain what a "carga" is,

and by looking at sources online, I find way more examples
using the term "charges" than loads.

For example:
Fixed negative charges in cells walls
Due to charges on their cells walls
Example sentence:

These electrical charges are used by the cells to communicate with each other

the uncompensated negative charges inside the cell

Note from asker:
Thanks Caroneiro! Hadn't even thought of charges. :)
