Alcuni architetti tendono a fare un netto distinguo tra 'design hotel' vs 'architecture hotel' . Poiché gli 'architecture hotels' sono progetti di altissimo livello, che progettano in maniera grandiosa sia la parte esterna, sia la parte interna di un edificio.
