Marcelo González Jul 13, 2020:
Endowed positions These are two endowed positions, with their respective titles which are normally written without a definite article ---- one endowed position created by Baker and another created by "Snider and Family."

Note from asker:

These are his formal titles at two different universities, the result of endowments and, as such, should be capitalized.

"He is Associate Professor of xxxx" vs. "He is an associate professor of xxxx" --- the first being a title, which is why the article is left off, and the second is a rank, which, when stated with an indefinite article, should be expressed in lower case.

oops: at two different schools of Harvard, not two different universities

As for expressing it with 'the,' we normally wouldn't do that in sentences such as, "He is Professor of Political Science" for example, because this would be his title.

Gracias Marcelo
