About 90% of my clients have come from ProZ.com. I really don’t have a presence there and barely open the page, but the directory works and the right people have contacted me over the years.

ProZ.com also has a very high rating in Google, so your profile or KudoZ questions you have asked or answered (which will link through to your profile) are likely to come up in web searches, thereby increasing your visibility.

I've been a member since I started working as a translator 15 years ago (I upgraded to the Pro package a few years later), and I have a generally positive opinion of the site. Of course, many of the offers we receive in our inboxes are for very low rates, but for me that's just one of the many services the platform offers. When you start your career, you get a lot of information on the site, the forum in particular is very useful. You can also access different training courses (I have done a few, most of them were very high quality). When I first started, I answered a lot of Kudoz questions, which gets you listed higher up in the directory, which is very useful because you're then contacted directly by agencies and direct clients looking for translators. I have a few direct clients who found me on ProZ.com, I've been working with them for a long time and they offer very good rates. I don't use the site as much as I used to, but I would definitely recommend it to someone starting out as a translator. In summary, it's a useful tool for translators, as long as you take the time to look at everything it has to offer and use it to your advantage (KudoZ, directory, training courses). It won't do you any good if you just sign up and wait for something to happen, but that's true of a lot of things Oh, one last thing, I came to Translation Mastermind via ProZ.com, and I'm grateful for that.

I would certainly recommend becoming a ProZ.com member. I have been able to get many jobs through ProZ.com. It's "before and after" for a translator who wishes to remain a freelancer. I must say that I continue to be breathless at how well ProZ.com anticipates / accommodates the needs of freelance translators. . . I was tearing my hair out and tossing small wads of money down the drain trying to find an invoicing program that did only what yours now does and nothing more.

My impression and experience with ProZ.com is positive. I get the majority of my clients from there. This past year has been great. I woke up one morning deciding to go back to translating full time but I was not 100% sure that my decision was the right one. In 2023, I began shutting down my freelance translator work. At 77, I am embarking on new challenges, but always related to the linguistic skills that ProZ helped me to hone.

I began translating professionally in 1992 and I was one of the first adherents to ProZ. I have watched it grow and expand, and it has been a great help to me, especially in the early years in garnering clients that I worked with for nearly two decades in some cases. The KudoZ terminology tools were essential in helping me build my own glossaries for the types of jobs I was involved in. I recall the names of colleagues that I never had the chance to meet in person but with whom I interacted on the KudoZ platform. It has been a truly rewarding experience.
