সম্প্রতি একটা CAT tool memoQ ডাউনলোড করে দেখলাম তাতে কতগুলো ভাষার থেকে অন্য কতগুলো ভাষায় অনুবাদ করার ব্যবস্থা আছে। কিন্তু ড্রপডাউন তালিকায় কোনো ভারতীয় ভাষা দেখা গেল না। তবু চেষ্টা করে দেখলাম ইংরাজি > আফ্রিকান বিকল্পে গিয়ে কোনো মতে অভ্র কী বোর্ড ব্যবহার করে লেখা যাচ্ছে, কিন্ত একটা error রিপোর্ট আসছ, যার হাত থেকে আবার কোনো মতেই মুক্তি পাওয়া যাচ্ছে না। শেষে রি-স্টার্ট করে রেহাই পাওয়া গেল।

তবে কেন যেন মনে হচ্ছে ভারতের মতো এত বড় বাজারকে বাদ দিয়ে কোনো অনুবাদের সহায়ক সরঞ্জাম কি কোনো কোম্পানি বাজারে ছাড়তে পারে? বাংলা ফোরামের বন্ধুরা কেউ যদি এই CAT tool ব্যবহার করে থাকেন, তাহলে এই সমস্যার সমাধান বলতে পারবেন কি? ▲ Collapse

CAT tools have little use for Indian languages Jan 25, 2010

Well, it's not clear why some of the CAT tools do not support major Indian languages.
However, personally I don't support the use of CAT tools for Indian languages. They may be useful for translation between European and other languages, but definitely they are practically useless for most of the Indian languages. In fact, the use of CAT tools will rather distort your translation to/from major Indian languages like Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and so on. Using some less common CAT tools, ... See more

However, personally I don't support the use of CAT tools for Indian languages. They may be useful for translation between European and other languages, but definitely they are practically useless for most of the Indian languages. In fact, the use of CAT tools will rather distort your translation to/from major Indian languages like Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and so on. Using some less common CAT tools, I had to face a number of occasions when recombination of translated sentence fragments resulted in a meaningless or diverted expressions. ▲ Collapse
