Watching the film with English subtitles for my partner on Saturday, I had to laugh when Tom Hanks was offered a cup of 'Harold Grey' tea by the Ian McKellan character. Perhaps a supermarket own brand?
Where do they get these people from!

Subtitles, written from listening to the video May 26, 2009

Indeed, I have seen this kind of mistake in many other TV series and movies I sometimes watch with subtitles.

Do they make the subtitles listening to the movie's soundtrack, instead of using the script?

Scripts are no guarantee Jul 14, 2009

Many of the post-production scripts are transcripts, so they're only as good as the transcriber. I've come across some major mishearings in my time.

That type of mistake should have been picked up at the proofing stage though.
