This has now happened many times with me. I have the version 2007 and the client has the version 2010 of MS WORD. The client's wordcount of the source file is lower, while the wordcount of the SAME source file indicated by my version of MS WORD is higher most of the times. However, on many ocassions our wordcounts match perfectly (referring to the same client).

Mind you, this has happend even with simple texts having no figures or text boxes or tables or any fancy stuff. Its plain

Honestly, irrespective of the version, the wordcount MUST be the same under any circumstances.

Have any of you encountered this? If yes, whats the way to get round it?

Thanks in advance.

Not a big issue for me, as the difference isn't usually huge. I normally prefer to defer to the client rather than quibble about wordcounts.

PS: If they are aware you are making them a concession, it may make them value your services more.
