I would like to know more about guidelines / best practices for Key mnemonics and accelerator keys' localization.
Would any one have information on the subject or suggest links where such information may be available?

The MS Style Guide has a whole section on this topic. Among other things they recommend avoid choosing letters with a downstroke like q and g or letters with accents like é, é, ë, ê, à, â, î, ù, etc.
