Hi all,
I received some XLIFF files for translation. One of these files can perfectly be opened and translated with TagEditor. The cleanup is fine as well.
The other XLIFF files, however, can be opened in TagEditor but the translatable text is displayed as tags.
I tried already to set the Tag Settings to XLIFF. I also created an INI file and set the tag and some other tags to "translatable" for example.

I tried already to set the Tag Settings to XLIFF. I also created an INI file and set the tag and some other tags to "translatable" for example.
Nothing worked. The text to translate will still displayed as tags.
Interestingly enough, for 2 files I receive this Trados error message when I try to open a XLIFF file in TagEditor: (35017): An exception occured! Type:UnexpectedEOFException, Message: The end of input was not expected
Does anyone know how I can create an INI so the translatable text can be edited in TagEditor? I probably did something wrong... Or does anyone know this error message?
It also helps if someone can tell me that I don't convert the files correctly or that the files are corrupted...

cause for the errors

I think the files are shot - based on the UnexpectedEOFException error. that just means that the tail part of the files is missing. Generally the XLIFF file looks like this (in Notepad or better in Notepad2):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xliff version="1.1"> <file....gt; <header> ... </header> <body> <trans-unit> .... </trans-unit> ... See more

It's enough that the last line is missing, and the error will turn up. One can patch it all - for instance if it broken somewhere in the middle of a translation unit - by pasting
</trans-unit> </body> </file> </xliff>
to the end (sort of adding closing parentheses). But that just help to save the front part of the file. I would talk to the client about it.

Dear Vito,
Thanks for your answer. I already noticed that the code must be corrupted in a way so I am glad that you confirmed this too! Now I understand this error message.
I spoke with the client yesterday and hope to get correct files on Monday.
Regards and have a nice weekend, Katja
