See more A translation agency in Barcelona attempted this retrospective discounting approach with me on Monday. This was the first time I had worked for the agency - which has a very good Blue Board rating. The agency sent me a document for revision on Friday night. Their instructions said: revise and tell us the number of hours needed when you return the task on Monday morning. I returned the revision on Monday with an invoice for six hours work. They later answered by saying that my revision was excellent but they had not budgeted for six hours of revision. They asked me to reduce my invoice to three hours 'so that we can make a profit on the job'. I refused and sent them a copy of their own purchase order. Later in the day they agreed to pay the full amount. The worrying aspect is that they thought I might agree to their proposal. Translators are in for a very hard time if project managers become convinced that they can make low offers to clients because translators will retrospectively lower their rates to guarantee the agency a profit. ▲ Collapse | | |

Viewing this should be a legal requirement for some outsourcers. I wonder if there is a Client Eduction section here on ProZ.com. Stefanie, why don't you contact support and suggest they use this clip for this purpose - copyright issues allowing.
