No, never (not any more) Jul 11, 2021

I’m a single parent of three children, but when I started translating some 35 years ago they were not small kids anymore (my youngest was 11) and they all knew what my work meant for all of us as a family. Still remember my eldest son whispering, sometimes even shouting, to his sisters: “Please be quiet, Mummy is working…”. I’m the happy grandmother of four beautiful grandchildren!

Not anymore, like Teresa Jul 12, 2021

My kids are all grown up, all in college or working, and they live on their own apartment in another neightborhood. Their independecy is critical for me and their mom, so we rented a flat for them, and they've been living there for more than two years now. Two of them have their jobs and their income, and my youngest one is doung medicine in college, so I still have to pay all her bills (for a good cause). But they don't interfere in my work anymore.
But I do have a dog. Does that count?

I have kids Jul 12, 2021

This is part of the life cycle.

I have kids and they sometimes play around.

If there's an urgent job, I tell them to keep quiet and if this doesn't work then I translate in the evening when everyone is sleeping.

Yes, always Jul 12, 2021

At least during 2020 and now in 2021, because of COVID-19 and online school classes. My 3 children are young and they still need help with their classes, and the youngest has her desk next to mine. My husband and the rest of the children are studying/working with their PCs somewhere else. 5 PC's at the same time, 3 students at home and lots of noise. So, yes there is a lot of interaction and things going on, but I manage to concentrate and work.

they used to be Jul 12, 2021

Long ago, when I started out, my son was often in the playpen by the table where I had the typewriter.
Then running around or doing his own thing.
12 years later it was my daughter's turn, same playpen, but I had progressed to a computer.

But I am fortunate to have a separate office in our block of flats where I can escape to. My wife (still) has to work in the living room. Fortunately the "homeschooling" stuff is over here where we live.

Summer Camp Jul 12, 2021

Not right now. Summer camps!

During the year they're often around, but I just tape their mouths shut if they won't shut up
