Gartner Says Worldwide Server Shipments Declined 4.2 Percent in the First Quarter of 2017; Revenue Declined 4.5 Percent
In the first quarter of 2017, worldwide server revenue declined 4.5 percent year over year, while shipments fell 4.2 percent from the first quarter of 2016, according to Gartner, Inc.
"The first quarter of 2017 showed declines on a global level with a slight variation in results by region," said Jeffrey Hewitt, research vice president at Gartner. "Asia/Pacific bucked the trend and posted growth while all other regions fell.
"Although purchases in the hyperscale data center segment have been increasing, the enterprise and SMB segments remain constrained as end users in these segments accommodate their increased application requirements through virtualization and consider cloud alternatives," Mr. Hewitt said.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) continued to lead in the worldwide server market based on revenue. The company posted just more than $3 billion in revenue for a total share of 24.1 percent for the first quarter of 2017 (see Table 1). Dell EMC maintained the No. 2 position with 19 percent market share. Dell EMC was the only vendor in the top five to experience growth in the first quarter of 2017.
In server shipments, Dell EMC secured the No. 1 position in the first quarter of 2017 with 17.9 percent market share (see Table 2). The company had a slight increase of 0.5 percent growth over the first quarter of 2016. Despite a decline of 16.7 percent, HPE secured the second spot with 16.8 percent of the market. Inspur Electronics experienced the highest growth in shipments with 27.3 percent.

تراجعت الإيرادات العالمية لمبيعات السيرفرات بنسبة 5.4% على أساس سنوي خلال الربع الأول من العام 2017، كما تراجعت عدد شحنات السيرفرات بنسبة 2.4% عما سجله خلال الربع الأول من العام 2016، وفقاً لأحدث التقارير الصادرة عن مؤسسة الدراسات والأبحاث العالمية جارتنر.
وفي هذا السياق قال جيفري هيويت، نائب رئيس الأبحاث لدى مؤسسة الدراسات والأبحاث العالمية جارتنر: "شهد الربع الأول من العام 2017 تراجعاً على الصعيد العالمي، مع هوامش اختلاف بسيطة حسب المنطقة، باستثناء منطقة آسيا/المحيط الهادئ التي جدفت عكس هذا التيار محققةً النمو خلال هذه الفترة".
وتابع هيويت قائلاً: "وعلى الرغم من ارتفاع معدل عمليات الشراء على صعيد قطاع مراكز البيانات فائقة التوسع، إلا أن أداء الشركات الصغيرة والمتوسطة لا يزال محدوداً نظراً لتوجه المستخدمين النهائيين ضمن هذين القطاعين إلى تلبية متطلباتهم المتنامية من التطبيقات عبر المحاكاة الافتراضية، والبدائل العملية ضمن البيئات السحابية".
من جهةٍ أخرى، واصلت هيوليت باكارد إنتيربرايز (HPE) صدارتها لسوق السيرفرات العالمية استناداً على نتائج إيراداتها، حيث سجلت إيرادات الشركة أكثر من 3 مليارات دولار، وذلك بحصة إجمالية بلغت 1.2% خلال الربع الأول من العام 2017 (انظر الجدول رقم 1). في حين حافظت شركة ديل إي إم سي على المركز الثاني عالمياً، بحصة سوقية بلغت 19%، لكنها شركة التوريد الوحيدة المدرجة ضمن قائمة أفضل خمس شركات لتوريد السيرفرات في العالم التي حققت نمواً خلال الربع الأول من العام 2017.
أما على صعيد عدد شحنات السيرفرات العالمية، فقد تربعت شركة ديل إي إم سي على عرش القائمة خلا الربع الأول من العام 2017، وذلك بحصة سوقية بلغت 9.17% (انظر الجدول رقم 2)، كما حققت الشركة نمواً طفيفاً بمعدل 5.0% خلال الفصل الأول من العام 2016. وعلى الرغم من تراجع نموها بنسبة 7.16%، إلا أن شركة إتش بي إي حافظت على المركز الثاني بحصو سوقية بلغت 8.16%. في حين حققت شركة إنسبور إلكترونيكس أعلى معدل نمو في عدد الشحنات بنسبة 3.27%.
