I
am a freelance translator, proofreader and editor with roughly a decade of experience in the
field. Prior to becoming a freelancer, I spent six years working in-house for an agency specialising
in technical translation. I hold a BA in German with Dutch from the University
of Sheffield and I offer services from German and Dutch into English (UK and US
variant). Although I work mainly with technical documentation (from welding
equipment and milling tools through to agricultural machinery), I have
translated and proofread texts from a wide range of industries and disciplines
throughout my career, including hotel websites and press releases.

I use a CAT tool (SDL Trados Studio, version 2022) to ensure quality and consistency in my work and I am also open to learning about and using other translation tools.

I pay attention to both target audience and terminology in my work: I dedicate sufficient time to research and consult specialist dictionaries where necessary to produce a high-quality translation. For high visibility marketing/website content, I take care to ensure that the text flows well and every document is given a second read-through.
