Agentul stimulator reprezintă cauză independentă, iniţiatoare a întregului fenomen comportamental.
Translation - English In America, against introspectionist psychology began to appear, at first timid, then increasingly supported reactions which paved the way for a new conceptualization of the subject of psychology .
In 1913, the american psychologist J. B. Watson published an article which has become a part of history - "Psychology as the behavioral Views it" considered the manifesto-program of behaviorism.
From the behaviorist point of view the personality of a human being, his life experiences and emotions were the result of learned responses, then behaviors. Psychology is the study of the relationship between S (stimulus) - R (reaction).
Watson denied the existence of human instincts, inherited skills, talents and temperaments. Behaviorism had major ethical consequences. Man is without responsibility, freedom and guilt, he is reduced to a purely biological being, which may be influenced by people who use the tools of psychology effectively.
Through further research realized by FC Tollman the classical behaviorist point of view also included the cognitive components of learning processes.
Neo-behaviorism represents a revision of the classic watsonian model, recognizing the internal subjective states as the intermediate variable, the existence of qualitative differences between human and animal mind, rethinking the role of socio-cultural factors in psychic determinism in the case of humans.
Tolman sought to demonstrate that animals can learn things about the world which can then be used in a flexible manner, not only to learn automatic responses that were triggered by stimuli in the environment. In the language of that time, Tolman was an "SS" (stimulus-stimulus).
Behaviorism has made a great contribution to the recognition of psychology as a objective science and developed new experimental methods.
Tolman's work 'A NEW FORMULA FOR BEHAVIORISM " included two key sentences that represented the fact that the existence of an non- psychological behaviorism is indeed possible and that behaviorism will include not only the results of mental tests, objective measures of memory and animal physiology but also the valid, insightful results obtained by the old psychologists. This new formulation of behaviorism is intended as a formula for all psychology.
Tolman’s new concepts are represented by : stimulating agent, behavioral objectives and behavioral act.
The stimulating agent that represents the independent cause which initiates the behavioral phenomenon. Thus on several occasions may be represented or can be described as stimulating a sense organ (in the case of perceptual behavior), as the final neurological outcome of a preparatory activities (for a behavior based on memory).
The application of different agents stimulating the body can uncover the number and range of possible behavioral indicators. Scientists learn what stimulation may be used as a basis for different behaviors.
Behavioral act along with the stimulating agent are the bases on which the rest of the behavioral system is built.
