Marcellus takes Syracuse in second punic war Death of Archimedes
It is under the title of a piece in Italian on the Death of Archimedes. I'm not entirely sure how I intend to deal with it (translation in brackets, footnote), but I definitely need to know the exact meaning "Marcellus is said to have wept" perhaps, my 'O' level Latin is far to rusty for anything except wild guesses.
L’AFFAIRE DELLA MORTE DI ARCHIMEDE
(Marcellus illacrimasse dicitur)
Fu un tragico errore o delitto di Stato? Il corso degli eventi storici sembra precipitare verso questo esito fatale: la morte di Archimede e la conquista di Siracusa.
