English to Dutch Tech/Engineering Printing & Publishing patent application/printing system

The system includes a print system having a *press controller*, a collator and a raster image processor (RIP), which are operable in response to press commands generated by the control unit.
If desired, the collator and/or RIP may comprise a part of the *press controller*. The controller instructs the collator to send page files to a demand printer.
The PDL master page files and the PDL variable page files may be combined into merged PDL files (such as merged PostScript file(s)), which are then provided to the print system, comprised of RIP, collator, *press controller* and demand printer.
