Some data points:

1. The last three quick polls had all closed before I even saw them. The last two had totals of 13 and 14 votes, probably because they were up for such a short time. What is the point of a poll that only collects a dozen votes?

2. It's still not possible to participate in an existing discussion, either by adding a new post directly or by quoting somebody else's post. This has been going on for more than a week now. All you get is a blank page with the ProZ menus at the top.

I had to start a new topic in order to present these data points.

Has happened to me too in the polls/forums.

Something even stranger happened (to me) in KudoZ a few days ago: I (dis)agreed with (and commented on) two different answers to the same Q, and when I hit ENTER after typing my 2nd comment, my 1st comment was replaced/overwritten by the 2nd.

I rarely report any bugs these days as nobody seems to care. I doubt it's because I'm a non-paying member. I'd expect a site to take all bug reports seriously, no matter who they come from.

That said, judging by the reply that Zea got, it's being dealt with. The question is: by humans? :-)

A blank page that still renders the menus can point in either direction. Someone who can see the server side needs to look before anyone claims a cause.

What I can tell you is that it is now recorded as a recurring problem rather than a one-off, and this ticket stays open until there is a real answer for you.

If you notice anything that makes it more or less likely to happen — a particular forum, replying with a quote versus without, a particular browser — that would genuinely help narrow it down.

Getting a reply may take quite some time. But maybe it's all Forums requests? Best would be a paying member sending a request, as the Urgent feature is not available for non-paying users.

In Japan, when a patient is on the point of death, the doctor tells the family: "Go-rinjuu desu". I'm afraid the same holds for proz.com. The website is falling apart just as the translation business is falling apart. The day is nigh when we attempt to proz.com, we will be told: "site not found". And that will be that. Lights out.

What I find particularly concerning is that this seems to have gone beyond the issue of occasional bugs.
Bugs happen. No platform is perfect. But when users can no longer be sure that they will be able to post, reply, edit a post, or even access certain pages properly, among other problems, this becomes a reliability issue.
And once reliability is compromised, trust starts to suffer.
A professional platform like ProZ depends heavily on user participation. If people repeatedly find technical problems, they may start posting less, participating less, or simply stop considering the platform an essential part of their professional lives.
And just take a look at how many members have left.
People don't necessarily abandon a platform overnight. Sometimes they just gradually stop relying on it, stop participating, and eventually move elsewhere.
That can lead to something much more serious than technical problems: a loss of credibility, relevance and, ultimately, trust among the very users who make the platform valuable.
In my opinion, this is no longer simply about fixing a few bugs.
It's about whether ProZ can remain a platform that its users actually trust and rely on.
Do they care?

I wanted to make a small edit to my earlier post, but all I got was a blank screen.

So I tried to make an additional post - again a blank screen.

Yet for some reason, quoting somebody else's post seems to work (today).

So it's totally random whether anything on the site works or not. Brilliant!

By the way, the reason for my edit was to mention that the "Agree" button was working again - but for how long?

I agree on both counts. I seem to be able to reply today, but I couldn't yesterday, so it's a lottery.

And the latest poll question had closed before I had a chance to answer it.

And Cloudflare appeared (again) when I clicked to compose this reply.

And when I clicked on the "Agree" button to support Sandra's post, nothing happened.

This site is gradually disintegrating (or being taken apart).

ProZ is becoming increasingly unusable.
These days, being able to post or even write a reply seems to depend on sheer luck. You never know whether the page will work properly or whether your post will actually go through.
I managed to post something just to test it, and it worked. But I’ve now tried the same thing with a few other threads, and the page just goes blank, without giving me the chance to write or reply.
This is getting seriously frustrating.

I tried to post a response to a thread about posting problems, to say that I had experienced exactly the same thing.

But I was just presented with a blank screen, as before. So the problem has not been fixed.

Another thing I noticed this week is that the discussion page for the daily poll question no longer has a link at the top to a list of previous poll questions. So once a poll discussion is gone, it's gone.

Just more signs of the progressive dissolution of this website.

I beg to differ: I do not think this is a good idea in practice. I frequently edit my posts if I discover a typo or a minor error (too many exclamation marks for instance).

I am sure others do the same. Posts are already locked after 24 hours, so that they cannot be edited any more, so anyone who agrees after that presumably means it, or they can 'Un-agree'.

I do not remember ever seeing a post edited to the point where I no longer agreed with it, and it would be difficult or impossible to define when a post was edited significantly as opposed to just tidying up.

It all began with superb moderation, culling was also part of the picture.

But the things are not bright there too, there's nobody there, the latest "Henry's" blog post is dated 04 Oct 2025 (!), the recent forum ( [url removed] ) posts on the front page date back to 2025 - 2022, one new post today, which is many for them in their current state. They also did a lot of culling, and additionally the owner kept on ditching mods, usually with a scandal openly online, I despised most of them, because they routinely insulted most newbies and many older members in the forum threads, but they still brought some value to this resource, like they wrote very good how-to materials, however, at some point they became 'toxic' and were kicked out with a lot of screaming and roaring.

InDesign group on FB is open and useful, quite a bit of nice hooptedoodle there.

Wordfast (you are some prominent wordfaster?) group on FB is closed, I cannot see what is going on inside, only the stats, these are impressive

The demise of ProZ.com's forums is not caused by staff trying to root out toxicity but rather by staff NOT trying to root out toxicity.
The staff doesn't care that e.g. new users are treated poorly by old regulars and chased away, or that some old regulars treat the forums as a place to vent their frustrations with the world, but that is precisely the thing that has made these forums an unpleasant place to visit. It may be too late to save the forums, but I think Henry should give it one last try, at least, with a cull.[/quote]
