Chill air rushes under the door; he curls his toes. But the hallway is silent. Only high-heeled clicks from the floor above. A shutter squeaking on the other side of the courtyard. His own breath, whistling in his nostrils, whistling out.
Faintly, a woman's voice drifts in. He clenches his eyelids tighter, as if to drive up the volume, but makes out only murmurs, a breakfast exchange between the woman and the man in the apartment across the hall. Until, abruptly, their door opens: her voice grows louder, the hallway floorboards creak—she is approaching. Lloyd hustles back, unlatches the window above the courtyard, and takes up a position there, gazing out over his corner of Paris.
She taps on his front door.
"Come in," he says. "No need to knock." And his wife enters their apartment for the first time since the night before.
He does not turn from the window to face Eileen, only presses his bald knees harder into the iron guardrail. She smoothes down the back of his gray hair. He flinches, surprised to be touched.
"Only me," she says.
He smiles, eyes crinkling, lips parting, inhaling as if to speak. But he has no reply. She lets go.

THE ART OF THE HANDBAG
The Ralph Lauren Ricky Bag, named for the designer’s wife and muse, reflects the highest standards of hand workmanship and is one of Ralph Lauren’s most iconic silhouettes. As with all Ralph Lauren handbags, only the most luxurious materials are used, and the artisans who create these handbags represent the finest in the world.
The distinctive pattern of the Ricky Bag is hand-drawn, and each individual piece measured and cut by hand. A testimony to its precise construction, one Ricky Bag can take up to 12 hours to create.
Leather handbags are fashioned from a total of 50 separate pieces. Alligator handbags require approximately four skins. Each hide or skin has been handpicked to create a flawless silhouette and treated to ensure the handbag will age beautifully.
Ricky Bags are hand-worked throughout—from the hardware and handles to the gusset and feet—creating the graceful lines of the handbag’s silhouette. To protect the handbag from fraying, only waxed cotton thread is used.
Edges of the Ricky Bag are formed from three layers of leather, which are buffed and stained as a natural sealing process and hand-skived to ensure a flawless contour. Ricky Bags from the Saddlery Collection, with signature leather-covered hardware, are constructed without corners, piping or lining for a supple silhouette.
Bombe detailing creates a subtle curved design that mirrors the delicate folds of fabric. Finished with cut edges and reinforced with wax cord, the handles of a Ricky Bag are specially shaped to ensure supreme comfort. Their signature form is accentuated through hand skiving and stitching.
The unique shape of the top edge of a Ricky Bag is designed for ease of opening and allows the wearer to carry the handbag unbuckled. Additional hand stitching is found on the top edge of a Saddlery Ricky Bag.
The Ricky Bag features nine different pieces of hardware. Custom made in Italy, each piece is handmade, attached by hand and stamped with the signature Ralph Lauren logo—a symbol of its authenticity.
Each handbag is fitted with a functioning lock and shipped with the key inside. Every part of the lock is affixed by hand.
The separate pieces of the Ricky Bag are joined with the handbag inside out. Two expert artisans must work in harmony to gently reverse the handbag, preserving its shape and the integrity of the hardware.
Grommets are carefully positioned and fastened by hand. The signature Ralph Lauren stamp is hand-applied with a heated hammer tool.
The handbag is hand-shaped with special tools after it has been fully turned, creating its iconic and graceful silhouette.

Hoag has created a community Health Information Exchange (HIE), an electronic system through which it and other participating healthcare providers can share patient information according to nationally-recognized standards and in compliance with federal and state law that protects your privacy. Through the HIE, your participating providers will be able to access information about you that is necessary for your treatment, unless you choose to have your information withheld from the HIE by personally opting out from participation. A. All Services provided under this Agreement and any Statement of Work (SOW) to this Agreement will be in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, including without limitation, all applicable anti-corruption laws. Service Provider has and shall maintain all necessary licenses, authorizations, approvals, permits and registrations to perform its obligations hereunder.
B. Service Provider has extensive experience and expertise in the field specified in the SOW(s) and shall perform the Services in a diligent, professional and workmanlike manner consistent with the highest applicable industry standards.
C. The Services do not and will not give rise to any infringement or misappropriation of any patent, copyright, trade secret, trademark, or other intellectual property right of any third party.
Service Provider understands that Service Provider’s relationship with COMPANY X is one of confidence and that during the period of Service Provider’s engagements, Service Provider may acquire or may have already acquired knowledge of, or access to information which relates to the business, operations, products or plans of COMPANY X (or its clients) which is not known to the general public (hereinafter “Confidential Information”).

- It is essential to thoroughly understand the objective of the negotiations as well as to exercise the appropriate skills to identify the central point of each document.

- Your assertions including ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ must be clearly expressed.
- Use of excessive humility must be avoided because such expressions can be misinterpreted as consent.

Three, take an active role in the conduct of the meetings, for example;
- Participate in the selection of meeting venues and the drafting of the Memorandum of Meeting together with the other party.
- If any significant issues are discovered after reviewing the Memorandum of Meeting, address said issues immediately with the other party.
Four, prepare a draft document prior to any meeting with the other party;
- Negotiations tend to be much more advantageous for the party who has presented a draft first. Therefore, it is imperative that we whose English is not as good as the other party prepare a draft first.
Five, remember the importance of the Letter of Intent;
- The term “Letter of Intent” may be translated as Prospectus, Basic Agreement, or Letter of Intention. Regardless of the title, it implies that an agreement between involved parties shall be forthcoming. Therefore, the letter must expressly note whether components such as legally binding power, first exclusive negotiation rights, and obligation to maintain confidentiality of negotiation are included or not.
